“My mom is known for her delectable meat rolls, and I’m thrilled to share one of her signature recipes with you – the Turkey Meatloaf. Get ready to savor the deliciousness!”
WHAT IS MEATLOAF IN GENERAL?
Essentially, meatloaf is a substantial meat cutlet that won’t demand much of your time in preparation. The outcome is undeniable! Simply slice the meatloaf and serve. Opting for turkey brings the advantage of its lean and low-fat qualities. Give this recipe a try, keeping in mind the tips and notes I’ll share below. The result is sure to delight your taste buds.
HOW TO PREPARE THE TURKEY MEATLOAF:
In a deep bowl, combine minced turkey, half a cup of ketchup, egg, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, garlic, spices, and salt. Use a spoon, or better yet, your hands, to thoroughly mix everything. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down with your hands to ensure even distribution. Next, blend the remaining half a cup of ketchup with mustard and a spoonful of Worcestershire. Drizzle the finished sauce over the meatloaf and proceed to bake.
HOW TO STORE AND FREEZE TURKEY MEATLOAF:
Wrap the finished meatloaf in a container with a tightly sealed lid and refrigerate for up to 4 days. For freezing, either wrap the meatloaf in cling film or place it in a freezer bag, storing it in the freezer for approximately 4 months. Thaw gradually on the eve of serving by first placing the meatloaf in the refrigerator overnight. Then, heat it whole in the oven or cut it into pieces and heat in a pan with a little oil.
HOW TO COOK TURKEY MEATLOAF RECIPE FASTER:
For a quicker cooking time of less than an hour, divide the prepared meat into 3-4 small forms and bake for no more than 40 minutes. For even faster results, place the minced meat into muffin tins and bake for approximately 25 minutes.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH TURKEY MEATLOAF RECIPE?
Several options complement the serving of meatloaf. Choose what suits your preferences:
- Mashed potatoes
- Vegetable salad
- Baked vegetables in the oven or on the grill
- Noodles or pasta seasoned with olive oil
- Cut the meatloaf into pieces and create sandwiches by placing it on a bun.
TIPS TO ENHANCE TURKEY MEATLOAF RECIPE:
- Enhance the amount of minced meat with cost-effective ingredients. Incorporate a blended potato and small carrots to add softness and juiciness to your dish.
- Swap out ketchup in the glaze for barbecue sauce to infuse a smoky flavor.
- WHAT TEMPERATURE DOES TURKEY MEATLOAF NEED TO BE COOKED TO?
- Bake the meatloaf at 375 degrees. For accuracy, use a culinary thermometer. Ensure that the temperature inside the meatloaf reaches 160 degrees.
- WHY DOES MY MEATLOAF FALL APART?
- If your meatloaf is falling apart, it indicates a lack of binders. To prevent this, add eggs and breadcrumbs to the minced meat, as they serve as effective binders. Another potential reason is overcooking the meatloaf
WHAT MAKES MEATLOAF MOIST?
To retain moisture in the meatloaf, incorporate tomato sauce into the minced meat. Alternatively, add milk, which saturates the breadcrumbs, providing essential moisture. Milk can be substituted with unsalted broth, water, or a milk replacer.
DO YOU COOK MEATLOAF COVERED OR UNCOVERED?
I prefer to cook meatloaf uncovered. However, an alternative method is to cover it with foil and bake closed for approximately 50 minutes. In the last 10 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking until achieving a golden brown finish.
