Instructions
- Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans or one 13x9x2-inch pan. Set aside. - Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, combine sugar, flour, cocoa powders, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix on low speed until thoroughly combined. - Add Wet Ingredients
Add eggs, buttermilk, coffee, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes. The batter will be thin; this is normal. - Pour Batter
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. - Bake
Bake in the preheated oven:- Round pans: 30–35 minutes
- Rectangular pan: 35–40 minutes
Test with a toothpick inserted in the center; if it comes out clean, the cake is done.
- Cool
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. - Frost and Serve
