This recipe is simple to follow and guarantees irresistibly delicious gingerbread crinkle cookies. With a soft center, warm spices, and a powdered sugar coating, these cookies are perfect for holiday baking or anytime you crave something cozy and sweet!

Course: Breakfast, Brunch, Dessert
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 2 hours 25 minutes
Servings: 20

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter and Sugar
    • In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to cream together the softened butter and brown sugar on medium speed. Mix until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add Egg and Molasses
    • Mix in the egg and molasses until the ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, ginger, and cinnamon until evenly blended.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until no visible flour remains and the dough is fully incorporated.
  5. Chill the Dough
    • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours. Chilling helps the cookies maintain their shape and enhances their flavor.
  6. Form Dough Balls
    • Roll the chilled dough into 18-20 evenly sized balls.
  7. Coat in Powdered Sugar
    • Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about 3 inches of space between each cookie.
  8. Bake
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the cookies for 10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are cracked. The centers should look slightly underbaked.
  9. Cool
    • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy these festive Gingerbread Crinkle Cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite warm beverage!
