Super moist, EASY, and absolutely delicious, this is truly the Best Banana Bread recipe! Perfect for using up overripe bananas, it’s a family favorite that freezes wonderfully.
Ingredients
- 3-4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, if desired)

Instructions
- Preheat & Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and flour an 8.5×4.5-inch loaf pan or spray with baking spray.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir in sugar, egg, and vanilla until well blended.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Sprinkle baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt over the banana mixture. Stir to combine.
- Incorporate Flour & Mix-Ins: Gently stir in flour and walnuts or chocolate chips until no streaks of flour remain. Avoid overmixing.
- Bake: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top with additional walnuts or chocolate chips, if desired. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice into thick pieces and serve.
Notes:
- Baking Time: Adjust baking time based on the size of your pan. Larger pans may require less time; smaller ones may need more.
- Muffin Option: Use the same batter for muffins. Divide evenly among muffin tin cups and bake for 20-24 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
