Banana Split Trifle

July 1, 2025 by el hassan Leave a Comment

Looking for a fun, fruity, and indulgent dessert? This Banana Split Trifle layers all the classic banana split flavors into one stunning and easy-to-make dish. With ripe bananas, vanilla wafers, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and maraschino cherries, every bite is creamy, sweet, and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 package vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 6 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 quart strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 package vanilla wafers
  • ½ cup chocolate syrup
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pudding
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk according to package instructions until smooth and thickened. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping.
  2. Assemble the First Layer
In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, start with a layer of vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas and strawberries.
  3. Add Chocolate and Cherries
Drizzle half of the chocolate syrup over the fruit layer, then sprinkle with half of the chopped maraschino cherries.
  4. Repeat the Layers
Add another round of wafers, bananas, strawberries, syrup, and cherries. Finish by spreading the pudding mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Chill the Trifle
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the trifle is well chilled and set.
  6. Serve and Enjoy
Top with extra whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and whole cherries for garnish if desired. Serve chilled.

Tips for the Best Banana Split Trifle

  • Use ripe bananas for the sweetest flavor.
  • Crush wafers slightly for a softer texture after chilling.
  • Don’t skip the chill time—it helps the layers meld and the flavors deepen.
  • Fresh whipped cream can be used in place of frozen topping for a richer taste.

Variations

  • Swap in raspberry, cherry, or peach-flavored Jell-O for a colorful twist.
  • Try graham crackers or shortbread in place of vanilla wafers.
  • Mix in other fruits like blueberries or pineapple for added freshness.

Storage

  • Keep leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Not freezer-friendly: freezing alters the texture of whipped cream and fruit.
